9 life lessons by Tim Minchin

I discovered Tim Minchin in his series "Upright" (written, produced and directed by him) and it blew my mind. More recently, his speech recorded at The University of Western Australia came in my social media. And it blew my mind. Again.

Tim gives you nine fucking life lessons that are truly clever and down-to-earth. Not this kind of so-called spiritual advices (which I am very capable of!) or out-of-this-world self-awareness super wise speech. No. Straight to the point, relevant, super useful.

OK, in a nutshell:

  1. You don't have to have a dream. Be micro-ambitious instead
  2. Don't seek happiness. Once you think about it, it fades away. Keep busy and make someone else happy. Happiness is a side effect
  3. Remember, it's all LUCK. You are incalculably lucky to be here, alive.
  4. Exercise. You have one body.
  5. Be hard on your opinion. Think critically on other's opinion and on yours.
  6. Be a teacher. Even if teaching is not your job, be a teacher. Spread your knowledge.
  7. Define yourself by what you love, not by what you hate. Be pro-stuff not anti-stuff
  8. Respect people who has less power than you. This defines as a human being. Or not.
  9. Don't rush. You don't need waht you're gonna do with the rest of your life

The seventh one is my favourite
